O.J's Guilty this Time

Well, the verdict is in and O.J. Simpson has found himself in another hot mess again. The former football star was found guilty of kidnapping, armed robbery and 10 other charges which now makes him liable to face the possibility of life imprisonment. Jurors found Simpson guilty late Friday evening after more than 13 hours of deliberating and he has since been taken into custody for sentencing slated for December 5. But how guilty is O.J. Simpson? According to his lawyer Yale Galanter one of the biggest concerns was to ensure that there were no prejudices towards Simpson after being freed of all charges more than a decade ago for the murder of his ex-wife and companion. Nevertheless humans are humans and it does not matter how severe screening for the jurors for this case was because there is always that person(s) who will have conviction for you and will not stop until there beliefs are immortalised. Hello, people tell lies o.k. and they will do that just to be one of the jurors. I am not saying he is guilty or innocent but a FAIR trial should be given and a juror should know how to separate their personal feelings from the facts to carry out justice effectively. Galanter has expressed that he and his team will file an appeal with the hopes of getting a new trial.

Jamaica Strikes Gold Again

Jamaica did it not only once but twice again on Sunday, at the 29th Olympic Games in Beijing, China. What did this small island do? Well, Shelly-Ann Fraser managed to win Gold in 10.78 in the 100m Women's final for Jamaica making this the first since 1988 that any country has won gold in both 100m Men and Women's Final. Not only did Jamaica manged to get gold but the girls had a sweep in being awarded all the medals; fortunately for us their was no separating Sherone Simpson and Kerron Stewart's time as they both were able to gain silver in a tremendous run especially by Stewart of 10.98 to claim the silver medals. It is the first in history that any country alone has medalled in the finals of 100m and the first that there is a tie in any race. I am sure this is a proud moment for the JA Girls and for Jamaica for finishing 1,2,2 to claim all the medals and to see our flags alone raising to our National Anthem. Well done girls, well done!

Lightning Bolt

Jamaica's sprinter Usain Bolt has done his country well in the Olympic Finals of the Men's 100m. Bolt went on to take GOLD in the finals being the first individual in 32 years from the Caribbean to win gold in such an event. Not only did he do this but he also smashed the old Olympic record by clocking 9.69 and his own world record of 9.72 set almost 3 months ago. What a superb performance it was with Bolt only making ONE mistake that is, by slowing down around the last 30m of the race. If he did not do this one can only imagine what the clocks would have been saying, truly a lightning Bolt indeed. Great effort from our fellow Caribbean sprinters because it is the first in history that 6 Caribbean athletes are actually in the finals of any Olympic race. Congrats!

Jamaica's only disappointment was that we did not get a 1,2 or even a 1,2,3 in medals as former world record holder Asafa Powell finished a disappointing 5th and Michael Frater whom did a tremendous run finished 6th. The race was suppose to be a big show down but in fact it was even though American runner Tyson Gay was absent from the finals as he did not qualify for it. this race was truly a display of Jamaican and Caribbean talents that were normally hindered or blind sighted because of the usually winning and drugged up Americans (No offence).

Bernie Mac Dies at 50

Comedian and actor Bernie Mac born Bernard Jeffrey McCullough on Oct. 5, 1957 in Chicago dies at age 50. Unbelievable as it sounds it is true. I am sure he warmed the hearts of many through his television show The Bernie Mac Show where he often broke the the "fourth wall" to address the camera saying "C'mon, America," and "When I say I wanna kill those kids, YOU know what I mean". Of course, he is well noted for his incredible appearance in movies like Ocean's Eleven, Bad Santa and Guess Who. It is reported that Bernie Mac died in a Chicago area hospital this morning from complications due to pneumonia, according to his publicist Danica Smith in a statement. He was said to be ill suffering from sarcoidosis, an inflammatory lung disease that produces tiny lumps of cells in the body's organs, but had said the condition went into remission in 2005. Mac was recently hospitalized and treated for pneumonia, which his publicist said was not related to the disease.

He is one of those rare gems and great entertainer. Gone too soon but not forgotten. A rose for angel.
